St. Fagans, near Cardiff, the folk museum of Wales is interesting. One of the most fascinating places to visit in this area is the Big Pit Coal Mine at Blaenavon where children from about 7 years old upwards can go down the mine (depends on height).There is no entrance fee as it is part of the National Museums of Wales. And it doesn’t need good weather.
Slightly further afield (40 miles from Brecon) is the town of Swansea with the beautiful Gower coast, or the capital city of Wales, Cardiff. From the 19th- 22nd July the Royal Welsh Show is being held at Builth Wells. This is a showcase of all breeds of farm animals and welsh country life. In August each year Brecon holds a world class Jazz Festival.
For a longer holiday combining two national parks in Wales, there is the wonderful Pembrokeshire coast. I think you had all better plan to stay at least a week!!
